Composers in Focus runs from January 25-27 and features three talented musicians who will be playing recitals from some of the world’s most renowned piano composers.

Miyuki Kato, performing on January 25, will play a programme of piano music by Frédéric Chopin, the Polish composer and virtuoso pianist who is widely considered one of the greatest Romantic composers. The programme will include, amongst others, Nocturne D flat major op.27-2, Polonaise C sharp minor op.26-1, Waltz E flat major op.18 and Ballade no.1 G minor op.23.

Playing on January 26 is Christopher Weston who has performed at top venues throughout the UK and abroad and had his CD recording of core classical piano repertoire featured on TV and radio.

Weston will play a varied programme by both Franz Schubert and Claude Debussy. He will be playing Schubert’s Four Impromptus, D. 935 composed in 1827 pieces from Debussy’s Preludes, Book I.

With a prominent background in both solo and song-accompaniment, versatile pianist Alisdair Hogarth, who is playing on January 27, regularly broadcasts for BBC television and radio, Classic FM and New Zealand Concert FM.

Known for playing with a robust technique but with a fresh, contemporary edge, Hogarth will perform the Dante Sonata by Liszt, one of the most difficult pieces in the repertoire.

Tickets - £10 (£8 concessions for each concert) available online at chelmsford.gov.uk/theatres or via the Box Office on 01245 606505.
