Felsted School will hold its first-ever Literary Day next week as part of its 450th celebrations.

The One Plus One.The One Plus One.

On Friday, May 2, bestselling author Jojo Moyes will be hosting a Literary Lunch, where she will talk about her new book, The One Plus One. The price is £2 5 which includes lunch and a glass of wine. Books will be on sale at the event. Proceeds go to the Felsted Community Day, on May 24, and the Felsted Mission Church, one of the school’s 450 charities.

In the evening, the school will put on a production of Christopher Marlowe’s classic play, Dr Faustus. A contemporary of Shakespeare, Marlowe is also 450 this year, and the play teaches lessons that are as applicable today as when it was written. Tickets are £5, and the play will also be performed on Saturday.

Preparatory school headmistress Jenny Burrett, who will be part of the cast of Dr Faustus, said: “We want to teach our children that there are two sides to literature; that classic and modern writings can co-exist. These two events should illustrate that perfectly.”

Both these events will take place in the Ross Hall at Felsted Preparatory School.
