Enjoy a special day out for Dad and all the family this Father’s Day (Sunday, June 15) at the Military Vehicle Show.

There will be hundreds of military vehicles of all shapes and sizes on display, from motorcycles to jeeps, ambulances to huge trucks and tanks.

As the museum commemorates the 70th anniversary of the D-Day Landings this year, there will be on display a number of D-Day-related vehicles at the show. These include a 1943 Ford Willys GPW Jeep marked as a Royal Engineer jeep in honour of the owner’s father, who landed on D-Day.

Visitors can also take a peek behind the scenes in the Duxford Aviation Society Military Vehicle Workshop, and see volunteers working on current restoration projects (10am-12.45pm), or feel, first-hand, the power of a military vehicle by taking a ride in the FV 432 Armoured Personnel Carrier (10.30am-12.45pm).

At 2pm, military vehicles will be in action as they take part in a cavalcade along the airfield, with accompanying commentary. Following the cavalcade, one of the lovingly-restored vehicles will be awarded Best in Show in the tank arena to the rear of Land Warfare.

From 3.30pm, there will be tank demonstrations in the tank arena.

Throughout the day, there will be a military, aviation and naval book fair in the American Air Museum. There will also be a range of themed traders selling their wares.
