FESTIVAL organisers are hoping that no libel lawyers will be present when stand-up comedian Robin Ince brings his ‘Bad Book Club’ show to Saffron Walden on Friday October 19.
Readers are urged to bring with them the worst book they can find when they come to watch the show - the one which Ince judges to be the most dreadful will win a prize.
Ince says his show is built on years of painstaking research in charity shops, jumble sales, and even skips in order to compile the definitive collection of the world’s most extraordinary - and inadvertently hilarious - books.
Jo Burch of Harts Events, which organises the Words in Walden festival, says: “Robin came to our spring festival with his wonderful science and philosophy-based show and had the audience crying with laughter. We are a Literary Festival so we thought it only right that we should hear what he has to say about books, too.
“Robin is looking forward to seeing whether anyone can beat his collection of peculiar publications.”
The competition has no rules and any member of the audience can take part - but the organisers ask readers please to bring just bring one book each.
