DON’T miss Saffron Screen’s annual celebration of silent film when Saffron Walden musician Gail Ford returns to provide live piano accompaniment to Buster Keaton’s physical brilliance in a hilarious double bill.
This is a holiday cinematic treat which will appeal to all ages from 5 to 105! Bring all the family.
In Cops Keaton accidentally gets on the wrong side of the entire LA Police Department during a parade and is chased all over town.
In Sherlock Jr, Keaton plays a luckless cinema projectionist who dreams of becoming a famous detective in order to win his sweetheart’s hand.
Both films contain Keaton’s hilarious slapstick, physical stunts and superb deadpan style.
The best way to see silent movies is with a live musical accompaniment, as they were originally shown, and Ford’s unique and witty soundtrack enhances the brilliance of the films.
She mixes classic silent film music with more modern pop references: see if you can recognise the different tunes, and we anticipate she will slip some Queen in there.
Tickets can be bought online at saffronscreen.com, at the Saffron Walden Tourist Information Centre or at the cinema Box Office.
