A Saffron Walden couple are celebrating after winning an international award for their tutoring business.

Rob and Lynne Kerrison run Tutor Doctor Cambridge, which provides in-home, in-school and online one-to-one and small group tutoring to help students achieve their potential.

Tutor Doctor Cambridge has a team of nearly 200 tutors and administers around 20,000 hours of tutoring each year, about 65 per cent of which is to schools and local authority clients - working with disadvantaged students who are often struggling with mental health issues and those unable to access mainstream schooling.

The husband-and-wife run company was honoured with the Global Top Producer award after achieving the highest turnover in the business and delivering well over 150,000 tutoring hours.

The award was presented in December at Tutor Doctor's global conference in Toronto, Canada.

Rob said: "It’s fantastic to get this recognition, and we are really proud to be awarded with this award, displaying just how far we have come.

"A fundamental driver when we started Tutor Doctor was to help children be as good as they can be, no matter what their background or upbringing.

"The scale of our organisation now and the acceleration we have been has been as a result of us expanding into new areas of working and we have partnered now with over 50 schools and many local authorities, working with the more disadvantaged students, and that has been a huge motivation for us.

"This is a really proud moment for us both."
