Saffron Hall will be hosting a flight-themed musical adventure featuring the BBC Concert Orchestra.

The BBC Concert Orchestra's Cinematic Journey through the Skies will include film scores and timeless classics inspired by the magic of flight on May 4, and will be recorded live for 'Friday Night is Music Night' on BBC Radio 3.

The evening, which starts at 7.30pm, offers a versatile musical journey, including light music, classical favourites, operettas and captivating scores from various films and TV shows.

The BBC Concert Orchestra will perform a rendition of John Williams' compositions from famous airborne scenes including those in E.T, Star Wars and Hook.

Listeners will also be treated to Walton's Spitfire Prelude and Fugue, and music from Sir Arthur Bliss who scored H.G Wells' sci-fi classic, Things to Come.

Audiences can also hear an evocative violin solo from Schindler's List and the timeless violin concerto by Korngold, evoking the grandeur of Hollywood's Golden Age.

The BBC Concert Orchestra's 'Friday Night is Music Night' is hosted by Katie Derham and Petroc Trelawny, and conducted by Ben Palmer.

The event is not recommended for children under the age of seven.
