This is by way of an accolade to a delightful young bus driver, unfortunately we did not get his name.
On October 16 he was the relief driver on the 4.40pm bus from Station Street to Cambridge. He went out of his way to be friendly, courteous and entertaining to us while waiting for the bus to leave on schedule.
I was one of three sisters, one a Saffron Walden resident, the other two Canadian visitors, who were waiting for the bus.
It was a heart-warming encounter and one we will remember. He is a credit to himself and to the company which employs him.
Hopefully, when I return next year to visit my sister in your delightful town we will have the good fortune to encounter him again as our driver. Should he read this, I and my sisters wish him well in all his endeavours. He deserves it.
