I AM grateful to Mr Riding for his assurance that I am entitled to put forward my views regarding block paving in the Market Square.
Perhaps it would be helpful if Saffron Walden Town Council were to issue a further consultation document, asking for the opinion of the people of the town on this significant proposal to drastically alter the appearance of the Town Centre Conservation Area?
It is rather curious that the minutes of the meeting of the Saffron Walden Partnership Board, held on March 26 of this year, state that the architect of this proposed resurfacing scheme "voiced his concern over the possible use of block pavers in the centre part of the square, as these would be unlikely to be durable enough, given the weight of some of the vehicles using the Market Square, particularly on market days".
