Fighting talk to stop expansion

HOW will the date November 29, 2006, go down in the history of Uttlesford?" was the question I asked two weeks ago.
Now we know the answer: it was the first day of the future of Uttlesford. Whatever that future holds, we now know that we are all in this together.
On November 29, planning officers gave sound reasons to council members of the Development Control Committee to refuse BAA's application to extend the use of the single runway to the point of the "environmental catastrophe" prophesied by Graham Eyre in the early 1980s. The application was refused unanimously.
Councillors, officers, inhabitants; we all know the importance of where and how we live.
Our task now is to demonstrate through argument, and even by example, that right-thinking people everywhere must acknowledge the necessity of thinking ahead to the consequences tomorrow of the actions we take today.
I for one look forward with confidence to the battles ahead.
