I take great exception to the headline in one of our local papers - 'Fireworks Flop'. It was admittedly a very wet evening, but the fireworks as usual were superb and everyone had a great, if soggy, evening.
How many other small towns have an eight-day carnival organised on their behalf, or a free public fireworks display, all undertaken by people who have full time jobs and many commitments?
The Round Table work ceaselessly for Saffron Walden, raise a great deal of money for local charities, and provide a great deal of enjoyment in the process, and we are very lucky to have such a great group of people in the town.
