I AM a regular visitor to Saffron Walden on market days. I wish to express my disgust and concern regarding the current situation of Jacqui Portway and the Tuesday market.
To have traded successfully on a satisfactory pitch and then be moved to a space that is not of equivalent size is totally unreasonable, especially as her stall does not fit the spaces that have been offered.
It's either take it or leave it - no consideration to Jacqui's need to earn a living. The fact that she has been a well respected market trader in Saffron Walden for 24 years counts for nothing. Jacqui's treatment is unreasonable and unfair.
Come on Saffron Walden Town Council - give the girl back her market pitch or offer a viable alternative.
You can do anything if you really want to. You run the market - don't you?
