Can the public have any confidence in a planning inspector who says, before the Inquiry has even started, that he doesn't want it to last too long as he has other things to do with his life?
This happened recently at the Pre-Inquiry Meeting for the BAA application for a second runway at Stansted Airport. The idea that a paid inspector should be limiting public involvement in an Inquiry because of his personal interests beggars belief. Whatever happened to the idea that planning inspectors were independent and impartial?
