Your report concerning the mobility scooter hit and run incident prompted me to write about a similar close call I recently had.
I was walking along the pavement with my toddler son and as we approached a corner, a mobility scooter zoomed round at such a speed we had to stop suddenly and the lady in question had to veer almost into the road to avoid us.
We were also given a very rude stare, as if it was our fault for walking too fast (not likely for a very pregnant woman and a two-year-old). If she had hit us, we all could have been hurt.
I would like to remind the lady in question that the pavement is a shared area, and consideration should be given to ALL users.
Can I also suggest that better time management may enable her to use her scooter at a more leisurely and less aggressive pace?
