SIR - I felt compelled to write the moment I read Dawn Dorrington's letter in the Reporter last week.
Such simpering nonsense! The poem about the unpleasant smell was quite clearly a light-hearted request to have something done.
Swearing is a part of the language that many people, from Joe Bloggs to modern royalty, occasionally use.
Ms Dorrington has reminded me of the tale of Queen Victoria writing to the compiler of a new dictionary, expressing disappointment about the inclusion of a particular swear word.
The compilers replied that they were disappointed Her Majesty looked for it!
The question I'd like answering is this - what can possibly be gained, as a Christian, to seek out offence where absolutely none was intended?
It was judgmental displays of anger and resentment such as this that forced my fiancée away from the church.
