The free firework display and bonfire on Saffron Walden Common, organised by the Round Table, attracted 10,000 people to see the 20-minute display on Saturday night.
After a competition with schools in the town, several guys were burned on the bonfire and the organisers hope to equal the £8,000 raised last year for charities and good causes in the district from donations on the night.
Spokesman Jason Thomson said: “We are still counting the money, we won’t know how much we collected for a week or two but the night went well.”
