Audley End House and Gardens is selling organic apple juice for the first time which has been made using fruit grown in its own organic kitchen garden.

It has been made using Cox, Bramley and Egremont Russet varieties and can be bought at the stately home’s Potting Shed organic shop which is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays throughout the summer.

English Heritage’s head gardener at Audley End, Alan North, said: “We have over 160 varieties of heritage apples, all organically grown, here.”

He said the juice was the latest addition to a range of organic produce available.

The historic kitchen garden has been organic for over 15 years. Its produce is used in the on-site tea rooms and supplied to Cambridge Organic Food Company.

English Heritage will be staging an Apple Festival on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 September at Audley End.
