Two young girls from Great Chesterford have cycled more than 25km to raise money for an animal shelter.
Kitty Hilling, a Year 7 pupil at Joyce Frankland Academy, and Innes Dunlop, also in Year 7 at Saffron Walden County High School, took on the off-road cycle route around Cambridgeshire as part of Cambridge Triathlon Club’s ‘Bridleway Basher’.
The two friends, who are members of Walden Junior Triathlon Club, asked for sponsorship for taking part and raised a total of £237.67 for Woodgreen Animal Shelter in Heydon, Hertfordshire.
Kitty said: “It was hard work but well worth it – for the money we raised and the cake at the end.”
Innes said: “We have had two cats from Woodgreen and were really keen to support the charity in all their hard work.”
The girls visited the shelter to hand over the hard-earned cash and spent some time with the cats, rabbits and guinea-pigs being cared for there.
