The manager of a Saffron Walden butchers has been left puzzled after thieves returned his blue wheelie bin following a burglary at his shop last weekend.
Chris Wright, of Humphreys Butchers in George Street, said thieves got away with around £2,500 worth of valuables in the incident, including a laptop and nearly £500 cash, which took place between 2am and 4.20am on Saturday, January 16.
Mr Wright said his blue wheelie bin, which is used for bone and food waste, was also taken in the theft, before it was returned in the early hours of Monday morning (January 18).
Mr Wright said: “It’s quite strange, I can only assume they used the blue bin to lug everything they stole up the road. I couldn’t believe it when they brought it back.
“I know there is CCTV up that road so surely whoever did this is on there either carrying my bin away or bringing it back. The police have said they’ve sent an email to get the footage but that’s all I’ve heard.”
