Mystery surrounds how an elderly man came to be injured after he was found in an Essex village on Sunday night (January 10).

The man, in his 70s, received treatment for head injuries when he was found at Elsenham Memorial Gardens in Station Road, Elsenham at around 10pm.

The East of England Ambulance Service sent a community first responder, ambulance crew and rapid response vehicle to the incident and a spokesman said that although the man was conscious and breathing, he was confused and disorientated.

He was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge for further treatment.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We are investigating how a man in his 70s was found to be injured at Elsenham Memorial Gardens in Station Road on Sunday, January 10.

“The man was found with head injuries at around 10pm and was taken to Addenbrooke’s hospital. Anyone with any information is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
