Fire crews have tackled a blaze at a recycling centre near Saffron Walden for the second time in three months.
A fire broke out in a large pile of household rubbish at a recycling facility in Hollow Road, Widdington, at 3.15pm on Saturday (June 27).
About 25 firefighters from Newport, Stansted, Saffron Walden, Thaxted and Bishops Stortford, were sent and arrived to find a pile of rubbish, approximately 100m x 40m, and 10m deep, was half affected by flames.
By 4.30pm on Saturday, the fire continued to burn through the rubbish. The incident commander also said that crews were using a water shuttle, where engines were taking it in turns to leave and replenish their supplies as there was a poor water supply on site.
The fire was extinguished by 7.30am on Sunday.
A fire broke out at the recycling site on April 4.
