More than 500 people took part in The twelfth Three Counties Charities Walk on Sunday (May 3) despite the rain and drizzle at the start of the day, which brightened up later.
Organiser Graham Howat said: “There was pouring, driving rain and the field had turned to mud. But we still had about 400 people for the long walk and a lot of parents and children for the shorter ones and the nature trail.”
The 13-mile walk to the point where Essex, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk meet raises money for a trio of charities. The money is still being counted for this year but over the previous 11 years, £108,000 has been raised for projects at Linton and Addenbrooke’s Hospital and for the restoration of Bartlow’s historic church.
There were also nine and six mile walks and a one mile nature trail which was popular with families with young children.
