A SCHOOL’S bid to develop some its land for housing will go before councillors next week.
Friends’ School in Mount Pleasant Road, Saffron Walden, has submitted plans to demolish some of its existing buildings and replace them with a new junior school and 74 homes.
Uttlesford District Council’s development control committee will discuss the revised plans on Wednesday.
In 2007 the school had its plans to build 144 flats and houses, as well as a 300-seat performing arts centre, rejected by the committee, with councillors branding the proposals as “ugly” and “inappropriate”.
