BELL ringers of St Mary's Church in Saffron Walden will sound the alarm for climate change at 3.30pm tomorrow (Sunday December 13).
The event marks the height of the talks at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.
Secretary of the St Mary's society of ringers, Roger Collins, said: "Bells have been used throughout history to sound the alarm. In 1940, the nation's bells fell silent, only to ring again in the event of invasion. Today climate change is the biggest threat we face.
"World leaders simply can't put off the tough decisions they need to take any longer. Church leaders are urging them to hear that message. We're doing our bit to make sure they hear it loud and clear."
A Christingle service at 4pm will follow the bell ringing.
