SAFFRON Walden and District United Nations Association will hold its annual re-dedication service on Sunday October 25 at 6.30pm at the United Reform Church, Abbey Lane.
Everyone is invited to join. Soldiers from Carver Barracks, wearing the blue UN peacekeepers berets, will parade the UN flag.
The speaker will be Rev Chris Warren, a past chairman of Saffron Walden Amnesty International, and the UN Secretary General's message will be read by Dr Peter Sanders.
Admission is free but there will be collection in aid of the UN World Food Programme. WFP is the world's largest humanitarian agency and the UN's frontline agency for hunger solutions. In 2009, WFP aims to feed around 100 million people in 77 countries.
The service is organised through Churches Together in Saffron Walden, and is an annual event which takes place in the town churches in turn.
