A TEENAGE driver involved in a Little Walden collision which killed a 69-year-old pedestrian has been sentenced.
James O'Malley, 19, was found guilty of careless driving after a two-day hearing at Harlow magistrates' court yesterday (Thursday).
The teenager has been banned from driving for two years. He was also fined 200, ordered to pay 500 costs and told to retake a driving test at the end of the ban period.
O'Malley of Castle Camps, Cambridgeshire, was driving a Citroen C2 car that struck Margaret Lyons on the B1052, Little Walden, Essex on May 18 last year.
Mrs Lyons, 69, from Chadwell Heath, east London, had been visiting her son for the day and the collision happened outside his home when she was leaving.
Investigating officer PC Andy Sumner said: "This is a tragic death that occurred as a result of driver inexperience. Even a year after the incident relatives and friends are still badly affected especially the driver and his young passengers.
