CADETS based at Stansted Airport have taken the bronze medal in gruelling competition.
The tough Essex Wing Falklands Trophy Contest is held every year at the Carver Barracks in Wimbish.
The Stansted-based 494 Squadron were celebrating after taking third place in the arduous event designed to test the young cadets to the limit.
A Squadron spokesman said: "We are very proud of our cadets, they have put so much into preparing for this competition and it is great to see them rewarded for all their hard work."
The cadets were evaluated on a wide range of skills including target shooting, archery, first aid and map reading. They also had to complete a navigation exercise, speed march and log races.
With 23 teams from all over the country taking part the competition was stiff, but 494 Squadron won the log race and the archery shoot.
The team will now take on the best of both Army and Sea Cadet units in the Tri-Services Competition to be held at Colchester Garrison in June.
