STUDENTS from Newport Free Grammar School were given a taste of reality when a road show toured their school.
Organised by the Uttlesford Community Action Safety Team, the Reality Road Show helps to prepare teenagers for some of the difficult decisions they may be faced with.
Director of learning for year nine, James Fletcher, said: "The road show was a huge success. Students learnt about relationships, drugs awareness, sex education, and how to act in society in an acceptable way.
"Students finished the day gaining a stronger understanding about these issues. The road show is a great way for them to learn about issues such as internet safety and drugs awareness in an interactive and educational way."
The road show, which is aimed students aged between 13 and 14, kicked off with a performance from HyperFusion Theatre Company and was followed by discussions abut the issues that the production raised.
Community safety officer for Uttlesford, Yasser Alromisse, said: "Dramatic productions like this are a great way to engage with young people and get messages across in an exciting and memorable way.
"The road show tackles problems that conventional classroom teaching may sometimes struggle to get across.
