Remembrance Day 2022: Saffron Walden residents pay tribute

At the Remembrance Day parade - on Sunday, November 13 - Mayor of Saffron Walden Cllr James de Vries was joined by representatives from Saffron Walden Town Council, Saffron Walden Royal British Legion, and members of the army, police and uniformed groups.

The procession began at the Garden Room in Jubilee Gardens at 10.20am, and then the group gathered at the War Memorial for the two minutes' silence at 11am and the laying of wreaths.

This was followed by a church service at St Mary's, after which the parade marched from the church to the Market Square, to receive a salute from Lt Col Richard Rees.

A town council spokesperson said: "The town council sends it thanks to residents and organisations who participated in the service for the smooth-running of the respectful service in remembrance of the fallen and those that serve our country."

On Armistice Day - Friday, November 11 - a short service was held at the War Memorial at 11am.
