Mountfitchet House care home in Stansted held a black-tie awards party for residents, inspired by the Oscars.

Residents at the home, which is run by Care UK, were invited to walk the red carpet before being welcomed to a completely transformed area of the home and treated to a glass of bubbly.

The home's lifestyle team presented more than 56 awards, with categories including 'biggest cake lover', 'world's biggest Tottenham fans', 'biggest happy chappy' and 'queen of the hairdressers'.

Peggy, an 82-year-old resident, said: "The whole ceremony was fabulous, I haven’t been to an awards ceremony in years. It was wonderful to win the award for brightest smile."

Joanna Duke, home Manager at Mountfitchet House, added: "Here at Mountfitchet House we’re always looking for fun activities to put a smile on residents’ faces and this certainly did the trick!

"Everyone had a great time guessing who would win which award and we all had a laugh when the winners were announced.

"The awards ceremony provided a great way to encourage residents to think back over the past year at all the wonderful memories they’ve made and to share their achievements from 2022.

"This was a wonderful reminder of all the positives from the past 12 months and we’re looking forward to making even more happy memories with the residents in the coming year."
