Newport Amateur Theatrical Society is getting ready to perform a panto of Sleeping Beauty to mark the group's 25th anniversary.

The family-friendly pantomime takes place in the Royal kingdom of Bowrania where King Rumbletum (Will Murray) and Queen Giggleberry (Kate Featherstone) are worried about their daughter Beauty (Chloe Mosby) who is approaching her 18th birthday.

Will the curse of Olga Pong (Suran Jayathilaka) assisted by her son Gormless (Sam Lake) come true or will she meet her handsome Prince (Reuben Cowell)?

Can the Fairy Godmothers (Shiva Balaghi, Kristina Battleday and Lizzy Thorpe) help good overcome evil and save the day?

The fairy godmothers are assisted along the way by loyal, not always the brightest, subjects Oddjob (John Oglesby) Nurse Pinchme (Matthew Fyleman) and Squint (Dominic Morris-Rodwell).

The chorus, both young and adult, play a variety of minor roles, and perform with enthusiasm to support the main cast.

The panto was written by David Swan and is co-directed by Becky Monk and Steve Dunn.

Performances will be held in Newport Village Hall at 7.30pm on Friday, January 27 and Saturday, January 28, and at 1.30pm on Sunday, January 29.

Tickets are available online at thelittleboxoffice.com/nats, from Newport Village Stores or on the door. Tickets cost £8 for adults and £6.50 for concessions.

Doors open 30 minutes before the performance.
