The only group of Rainbows in Saffron Walden is in desperate need of volunteers.

The Rainbows, which is for girls age four to seven, has been running since 2005 and has a full register of members and a long waiting list.

Due to personal circumstances the current leader is having to step down at the end of term, so they need someone to volunteer to run the unit, as well as other volunteers to support them.

The Rainbows meet on a Monday afternoon for an hour and a quarter, and the role would also involve some additional planning time.

Full support will be given by Girlguiding Saffron Walden district, including assistance with accessing all training.

The Girlguiding website states: "Working with young people and other volunteers helps develop valuable, transferable skills like event planning, time management, leadership skills and budgeting.

"We'll help you build skills with training opportunities suited to your role that make your CV stand out.

"Take our leadership qualification, become a trained first aider or get qualified for outdoor activities such as climbing and kayaking."

Unfortunately, in the current situation, the unit will have to close at Easter if there are no volunteers.

Anyone who can help save the Rainbows, or who is interested in helping at other Girlguiding units, can email sw-commissioners@outlook.com, or register at https://www.girlguiding.org.uk/get-involved/become-a-volunteer/register-your-interest/.
