A dispersal order is being put in place across Uttlesford following information relating to planned illegal hare coursing.

The order, which covers the entire district, is in place between 6am tomorrow (Saturday, March 11) and 8pm on Sunday, March 12.

Inspector Terry Jacobs, of Essex Police's Rural Engagement Team, said: "We have reason to believe people are intending to attend to illegally course hares as part of a regional competition.

"These events have previously evolved into widespread disorder and we know hare coursing is often linked to violence and threats to anyone who tries to obstruct them.
