A nine-year-old poet from Saffron Walden has had her work published as both a book and an audiobook.

Lily Frisenda Thomas has been attending the Creative Walden Writer's Room, based at Fairycroft House, since 2021.

Paul Bellany, who tutors the group, said: "Lily writes from a heart untroubled by the crippling self-censure of so many of her peers and has an insightful maturity that is way beyond her nine years."

Lily's poems range from the fun and light-hearted 'Joey the Pigeon' and 'Silly Whale', to friendship tribulations in 'To All my Friends' and the beautiful 'Dear Spring'.

Alice Brommell, who introduced Lily to Writer's Room, said: "An avid reader, Lily always had a notebook in her hand, and would hum away in her own little world, drawing squiggles along the lines before she could write words.

"She now does the same thing at Writer’s Room, humming away as she writes. Except the squiggles have become poetry, song lyrics and short stories."

Lily's collection 'On a Stream of Wonder' is available from Amazon, and the audiobook - which features conversation, songs and impersonations between poems - is available to download from Audible.

Paul added: "It was an absolute pleasure producing the recording. I had an almost permanent smile as I edited the three-hour session."
