Local elections are taking place across the UK on May 4 2023, with millions of people set to have their say over who represents them in local government.

All of Essex’s 12 district-level councils with be holding elections this year, including Uttlesford District Council.

Uttlesford will be electing all of its councillors in an all-out vote, which takes place once every four years. This takes place once every four years. Between one and three candidates will be elected to represent each of the district’s 22 wards.

In the last election, in 2019, the local party Residents for Uttlesford won a shock landslide majority, taking control of the council from the Conservatives. Ahead of the election, there were 23 Residents for Uttlesford councillors against six Conservative, five Liberal Democrat, three Green Party and two independents.

In addition to parties already represented in the council, Labour and Reform UK are also standing candidates this year.
