Businesses and residents are asked to give their views on bike sharing schemes in Saffron Walden.

Bike sharing is when a pool of bikes is made available for people to use - with many different types of schemes available.

In larger towns or cities, bikes are placed in the street with self-service access for one-way hire across a network of parking bays, while in smaller areas bikes may be in just two or three locations.

Other schemes offer pick-up and drop-off in just one location, more like traditional bike hire or longer-term loans to try out a particular bike before buying one.

Uttlesford District Council is conducting an online survey to assess what bike sharing options might work in Saffron Walden, and to establish the level of interest in setting up a scheme.

Participants will be asked their views on whether they would prefer a network of bikes across an area, a shuttle service with bikes linking two locations, a scheme offering hires by the hour or day, longer term loans, or any other ideas.

The survey is available on the council's Let's Talk Uttlesford website at https://letstalk.uttlesford.gov.uk/embeds/projects/22696/survey-tools/22684.

The closing date for comments on potential schemes is June 30.
