Thirteen children from 1st Thaxted Brownies travelled to Blackland Farm Girl Guiding Activity Centre in East Grinstead for two nights of circus-themed 'Magic and Mayhem'.

With more than 700 Brownies and Rainbows attending, Magic and Mayhem is the biggest national girlguiding event for girls aged between four and 10.

Brownies were able to explore the Big Top Circus tent and experience circus skills, learn magic tricks, try bungee trampolining, enjoy the huge inflatables, and perform an epic dance at the closing ceremony.

After some campfire singing, the children got to sleep in the Big Top tent. The girls said that it was "the best weekend ever".

Brown Owl Leanne Kell said: "I am so proud of the girls who attended this event, for some of them it was their first camping experience.

"They threw themselves into every exciting opportunity on offer and had the most amazing experience.

"They made new friendships, learnt news skills, and made lasting memories. We are a very active unit with lots more adventures planned for the summer including a trip to the zoo, two-night brownie camp and overnight visits to London."

Girlguiding UK has announced plans to close all five of its national activity centres, including Blackland Farm.
