A 29-year-old man has been banned from driving for 12 months after pleading guilty to drug driving offences.

The Braintree and Uttlesford Community Policing Team was on patrol in Saffron Walden on Wednesday, September 7 last year when they noticed an Audi A3 driving suspiciously.

Once the vehicle had been stopped, officers were concerned about the driver's behaviour and he was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle over the specified controlled drug limit.

The driver, 29-year-old Alexander Young of Hill Green, Clavering, was charged with the offence after further tests.

He appeared at Colchester Magistrates Court today (Wednesday, July 26) where he was banned from driving for 12 months.

Acting Sergeant Steven Sharma said: "Our officers in this case spotted Young’s driving and became concerned.

"This driving ban removes him from the roads for 12 months, keeping the public safe and I hope this sends a message to anyone who thinks they can get away with drink or drug driving."
