A charity golf day at Saffron Walden Golf Club raised more than £16,000 for St Clare Hospice.

The annual event was organised by Epping Rotary Club, and raised £16,152.50 for people in West Essex and East Herts affected by life-limiting illnesses.

At the 18th hole - which was sponsored by homebuilder Bellway - visited had the chance to take on professional golfer Callum Brookes for £5 each, which also went to the hospice.

Ellie Gale, relationship fundraising manager for St Clare Hospice, thanked Bellway for their sponsorship and said: "Their support really will change the lives of local people and their loved ones, as £16,000 could cover the cost of running our Hospice at Home team for a whole week."
