An "exemplary employee" who turned Saffron Walden Town Hall into a popular wedding venue was celebrated with a certificate and presentation.

Claire Haddock joined the town council in 2003 as a facilities cleaner on a temporary basis, but since 2015 has focused on bookings for council venues.

Since taking over the booking function, Claire has introduced the town hall as a wedding venue and successful business in its own right - to the point where it is now known as 'the place in Saffron Walden to get married'.

Marking Claire's 20 years of service for the council last week, town clerk Lisa Courtney described her as "a wonderful star and asset" and "an exemplary employee, with a positive and can-do attitude".
