Children from the 1st Thaxted Brownies enjoyed three days of fun and adventure at Chigwell Row activity centre.

Eighteen brownies, two guides and their leaders had a go at grass sledging, caving, zip lining, climbing, zorbing, campfire cooking and more.

On the first night the girls received a surprise visit from the Metropolitan Police, who dispatched a search dog to demonstrate its skills.

The children hid items in the long grass and watched as the dog retrieved them.

A policeman also demonstrated the various functions of the police car, including lights and sirens.

Brown Owl Leanne Kell said: "I was so impressed with the girls for embracing every opportunity they were given.

"For some of the younger brownies this was their first trip away, but they showed their adventurous streak and really got stuck in.

"Watching the girls climb the 12-metre outdoor wall or learn new skills in archery and campfire cooking was very rewarding, one brownie even got a bullseye!

"I’m so proud of all the brownies. They were a delight to take on camp and I look forward to many more adventures with them in the future."

The girls earned points for their teams during the trip, and on the final night had a beach party with a talent show - which was won by brownie Jessica for her singing.
