Plans are under way for Saffron Walden Town Council's Christmas celebrations, with plenty for all the family to enjoy.

The annual light switch on and parade takes place on Friday, November 17, with free drop-in lantern-making workshops from 10am to 2pm at the Jubilee Hub on Saturday, November 4 and November 11.

Lanterns will then be collected from St Mary's Church at 5.30pm on November 17, for the parade at 5.45pm and the light switch on at 6pm in Market Square.

Food and entertainment will take place in Market Square from 4pm to 8pm.

Children can visit Santa in his grotto at the town hall from 4pm to 7pm on the day, and from 11am to 3pm on Sunday, November 19.

Fayre in the Square will also take place from 10am to 4pm on the Sunday, with a range of market stalls to start your Christmas shopping.

Mayor of Saffron Walden Cllr Heather Asker will host her Christmas charity tombola, which will go towards her chosen charities - Fairycroft House Arts and Media Centre and Saffron Walden Youth Outreach Project.
