Accuro's third annual Festive Family Fun Run raised £3,150 to support people with disabilities in West Essex.

The event was held in Saffron Walden on Saturday, December 3, and this year took place on The Common for the first time, with the Christmas Market taking place in Market Square.

When the whistle blew at 10am 50 Santas and elves put their best foot forward and ran laps of the marshalled route for half an hour.

Although the route was longer than at last year's event, the majority of participants were undeterred - keeping going for the full time and receiving medals as a reward at the finish line.

Among the participants were Cllr James de Vries and some of Accuro's Uttlesford members, who were praised for their "fantastic" effort.

Chair of Uttlesford District Council Cllr Geof Driscoll also got in the spirit of the occasion, donning a Santa suit along with his mayoral chains to hand out medals to the finishers.

After the event, some of the participants headed to Saffron Community Link to receive their certificate and warm up with a hot drink, with festive activities available for children.

Accuro's fundraising manager Sue Fishpool said: "It was wonderful and truly heart-warming to see the local community, including some of our members, coming together for this event — there was a real sense of festive cheer and hope in the air, and it is always a great way to round off our event calendar.
