SOME 33 jobs have been spared after a troubled Saffron Walden furniture makers was snapped up.

Pedleys Furniture International Ltd went into administration in July under crippling financial pressures, and it was feared that scores of jobs would be at risk of redundancy.

However, international refurbishment company MJM Group has swooped in to buy the ailing company, which has been in the town for 57 years.

A spokesman for MJM said: “We are delighted to add a manufacturing presence in the UK and build upon the existing business.”

MJM was founded in 1983 as a specialist joinery sub-contractor and has since developed into an international project management contractor with divisions in specialist joinery, marine refurbishment and public area fit out. Its clients include some of the worlds leading corporations, hotels, banks, commercial retail businesses and cruise line companies.
