STUDENTS at The Bishop’s Stortford High School have smashed all records with their results in this year’s A Level exams.
Yet again the pass rate was 100 per cent, with nearly one-third of all passes coming at grades A* or A and 63pc of them at grade B or above.
Both of these figures represent the highest ever reached at the London Road school. No fewer than 47 students, including nearly 40pc of female applicants, have won places at prestigious Russell Group universities.
Individual successes included:
• Katherine Cowles, whose 4A*s and 1 A earned her a place at St Edmund Hall, Oxford to read English and French.
• Annie Loveday achieved 3 A*s and 2 As and will be studying History at St. Catharine’s College, Cambridge.
• Harriet Cantrell, who gained 2 A*s and 2 As matched these grades and will be taking up a deferred place at Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge, to read Linguistics.
• Emma Langley-Jones, with 1 A* and 3 As will be reading Economics at St John’s College, Cambridge.
• Katie Lewis, with 1 A* and 2 As, is off to study Geography at Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge.
• Naim Rahman, who achieved 2 A*s and 1 A, will be reading Medicine at Glasgow University
However, the highest scores of all were achieved by Adam Wiles who swept the board with 4 A* Grades at A Level and a similar result in his Extended Project to read Computing at Imperial College, London.
In addition, Tom Barker, Ed Grant, Rachel Hogan, Tugrul Irmak, Craig Murray, Rob Muscroft, Toby Newman, Will Readshaw, John Reynolds, Alex Robertson, Keyan Shah, Jack Stevens, Callum Tse, James Twamley and Luke Williams each gained at least three passes at grades A or A*,
Acting headteacher Paul Noble said: “I am truly delighted with these outstanding results. Supported by their parents and their extremely dedicated, inspirational teachers, our students have worked with great determination to exceed our expectations.
“Nearly 90 per cent of their A Level passes were at or above grade C and I am particularly pleased that this year’s results are our best ever.”

“This is a very talented year group, whose members have upheld the school’s traditions of excellence in their extra-curricular endeavours as well as in their studies.
