A TASTE of Nepal was brought to Uttlesford as guests packed Carver Barracks for a celebration of a twinning association.
The Nepalese community from London, Saffron Walden and Cambridge played host at the event to mark the continued success of Tang Ting Twinning Association (TTTA).
Many awards were announced and Moray Bayliss, chairman of TTTA, together with the elders of the Nepalese community, welcomed Krishna Rai, Surendraman Gurung, Sher Gurung and Karnu Gurung who had been invited over from Nepal by local sponsors in the UK.
Karnu is a nurse in Tang Ting who regularly attends the Tang Ting Day Centre, which was opened in 2009 with funds provided by the association. She will be welcoming the medical team that will be accompanying the supporters of TTTA’s trip to Nepal in November.
TTTA is a registered charity, twinning Debden and Wimbish with Tang Ting, a Nepalese village home to many of the Gurkhas serving at Carver Barracks.
