POLICE will remain at the scene of the discovery of a woman's body at Hinxton throughout the weekend, although the road should fully reopen this evening.

Investigation leader Det Supt Mark Birch said: "We're making positive progress with our enquiries and we've received some helpful information following our public appeal.

"Searches will continue at the site throughout today although I'm hoping to be able to open the A1301 at some point later this evening.

"There will however continue to be a police presence at the location during the weekend as further forensic work takes place.

"We're conducting more tests following yesterday's post mortem but I'm unable to go into detail on that at this stage.

"We continue to liaise with other forces and I would ask that anyone with any information should contact us on 08454 564564."

Police officers have been working round the clock since the grizzly discovery of a woman's burning body by a layby in Hinxton at 3.30am on Wednesday morning.

Any further updates will be displayed on the Reporter website as soon as they become available.
