Two air ambulances attended a collision on the M11 near Stansted Airport tonight which closed both carriageways.
The accident took place between Junction 7 (Harlow) and 8 (A120) near the airport and traffic was held on both carriageways to allow an air ambulance to land on the southbound motorway.
Two vehicles were believed to have been involved in the crash but the injuries are minor, according to the East of England Ambulance Service.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We received a call today at 8.23pm to reports of a road traffic collision on the M11 near Bishop’s Stortford.
“We dispatched three rapid response vehicles, two ambulance crews, and two air ambulances from the Essex Herts Air Ambulance and the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
“Three patients were treated for what are believed to be minor injuries. Two were taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge and one was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow. All were taken via land ambulances and believed to be in stable conditions.”
The motorway has now reopened on both carriageways although one lane northbound currently remains closed.
