STUDENTS and staff at Newport Free Grammar School took place in the annual Amnesty International Greetings Card campaign last Friday following assemblies in which the plight of individuals from across the world was highlighted.

Members of the school community were able to hear and read about cases that Amnesty International is currently campaigning about and send messages of hope to ensure that these people realise that they have not been forgotten.

Deputy headteacher Matthew Gibson said: “We are always delighted to be involved in this campaign as it helps the whole school appreciate the freedoms and liberties that we take for granted in Britain that are not enjoyed by people in some other parts of the world.”
