Around 250 party goers were evacuated from a stately home following marquee fire

Around 250 party goers had to be evacuated from a stately home in Quendon after a blaze broke out inside a marquee in the grounds.

The fire started at around 12.20pm on Saturday at Parklands Quendon Hall. A woman, who was suffering from smoke inhalation, was treated at the scene.

Five fire crews. from Saffron Walden, Newport, Stansted and Thaxted, attended the blaze and the fire was surrounded shortly before 3pm.

A fire investigation will be carried out to establish the cause of the incident.
